We are thrilled to announce that Bangor City Stadium is undergoing significant upgrades, thanks to a major investment from the Football Association of Wales (FAW) worth approximately £240,000.
This funding will see the installation of four new floodlight structures, increasing the stadium's lighting capacity to 800 LUX, bringing us in line with UEFA standards and greatly enhancing visibility for both players and fans during evening fixtures.
Alongside lighting improvements, the PA system will also be upgraded as part of the FAW investment. This state-of-the-art system will elevate the matchday experience and enable us to host a variety of live events with top-quality sound, opening up exciting new opportunities for the stadium and the wider community.
Additionally, we will be installing UEFA standard goals with dug outs to follow later in the year.
Bangor City Stadium Director Lee Dixon gave us his thoughts on the great news:
"This funding is a game changer for us at the stadium, and with us hosting the EURO Under 19s tournament next summer it is vitally important we offer the facilities at the very highest level. The 800 lux lighting system gives us the opportunity to push onto achieving the category 2 UEFA status and I believe we are one of the first clubs in the Welsh pyramid system to install the 800 lux lighting system, which we are really proud of. We thank the FAW for their support and we look forward to working with them. As a board of directors we are delighted with these upgrades which gives our City & Community a stadium that they can be truly proud of."
We look forward to welcoming fans back to an even better Bangor City Stadium as we continue to grow and improve our facilities.
Updates regarding further major renovations will be given over the next coming days.
